Liora Schlesinger
Bass Clarinetist, Clarinetist, & Violist
Liora Schlesinger is a versatile clarinetist and bass clarinetist dedicated to expanding the reach of underperformed works. An avid chamber and orchestral musician, she is passionate about connecting audiences with diverse and innovative repertoire. Schlesinger’s artistry is defined by her commitment to musical storytelling, collaboration, and the exploration of new and forgotten works.
As a founding member of Trio Atropos, a clarinet, viola, and piano ensemble, Schlesinger champions works by underrepresented composers, bringing fresh perspectives to the chamber music stage. She is also a founding member of Delicious Bass, New York City's premier bass clarinet ensemble, which explores the instrument’s rich sonic possibilities.
Schlesinger has performed with ensembles such as The Chelsea Symphony, Protestra, and The Village Verein. Her performances have taken her to venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Symphony Space, as well as international stages in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Israel.
Beyond live performance, Schlesinger has contributed to multiple film soundtracks, including Leaving (2020), Yaretzi (2024), and What Happens Now (2025), as well as numerous recordings for NYU’s composition department.
She holds a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet and Viola Performance and a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance with a concentration in Music Education from New York University. Her principal clarinet teachers include Pavel Vinnitsky, Yoonah Kim, and Christa Van Alstine, while her viola mentors include Dr. Wendy Richman and Stephanie Baer.
